Learn some tactics top Patreon creators use to invite fans to check out their Patreon benefits.

By emphasizing the distinctive advantages and perks that come with being a member, you can entice your audience to delve into the exclusive content and experiences offered through your Patreon membership. To effectively motivate fans to explore these benefits, consider implementing the following tips:

  1. Tease upcoming or available, member-specific content, off-platform: To keep fans engaged and give them a taste of what to expect on Patreon, it's essential to tease upcoming or available member-specific content off-platform, typically around 10-20% of your total content. A powerful way to do this is by leveraging your social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube. A great example of this is Know For Sure's strategy, where they uploaded a teaser on Instagram and concluded it with a call-to-action: "Brand new EXCLUSIVE content drops only on Patreon.”

  2. Use direct and/or indirect ‘calls to action’ (CTA): A call to action nudges fans to take action, i.e. visiting your page. Try direct invitations like, “Join the community over at [URL]” and indirect ones that show the value of membership like, “Today’s topic was chosen by my members.” A good example of a strong CTA is The Good Death’s YT video post on their Community Tab: “You might notice that this Patron-only video has the full production value and length of a main channel video... You can also become a Patron here..."

  3. Publish a content calendar: To create a sense of FOMO and showcase the value of your Patreon membership, consider publishing a content calendar on a public channel. This calendar gives fans a glimpse of the exclusive content they could access on Patreon. A prime example of this is The Normies, who share a comprehensive content calendar that not only outlines their plans for various platforms but also includes highlights of their Patreon offerings.
